Library Activities in May!

The Library has lots of activities coming up in May - and some fundraisers, organized by the Friends of the Library!
 
Garage Sale (Sat, May 2 at 217 Colborne St. E):
The Friends of the Library are holding a Garage Sale to benefit the Library during Merrickville's Garage Sale Weekend.  Lots of quality items at bargain prices.  Don't miss it!

Youth Group (Sat, May 9 & 23, 1:00 pm):
Youth Group will continue on Saturdays in May - on May 9 and 23!  Come for fun activities for ages 10 - 14.  Contact the Library (or 613-269-3326) for details.

Off the Shelf! (Mon, May 11, 7:00 pm):  
Join us for another evening of literary gems and light refreshments.  This month, Off the Shelf will feature another "Open Mic" night - this time of selections from favourite childhood stories and poems.  If you have a favourite you'd like to share, contact the library.

Friends of the Library’s Bring & Buy Plant Sale
(Sat, May 23, 9:00am - 12:00noon, beside the Royal Bank): 
Get great plants at great prices while you help support the library!  A wide assortment of plants will be available. This is a Bring & Buy event - the Friends gratefully accept donations of plants for the sale.  If you have plants you would like to donate, pick-up can be arranged.  Thank you to everyone who has donated plants in the past.  For more information, call the library (613-269-3326). 

PA Day Movie Afternoon (Fri, May 29, 2:15 pm):  
Looking for PA Day fun?  Come to the Library for an afternoon movie for kids.  Contact the Library for details.

Mac User Group (Sat. May 30, 10:30 am):  
Join our Mac user group with Bob Gray for tips on mastering your Mac.

Get Started with Library eBooks 
(Thursdays, 6:00-8:30 pm (drop-in) or by appointment):  
Learn how to access eBooks and eAudiobooks from the library on your eReader, tablet, or phone! 

StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish): 
Join us for stories, songs & rhymes and a simple craft.  New StoryTimers are always welcome.  

LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10-12):  
Our LEGO Club drop-in continues in May.

Off the Shelf continues to delight audiences with short stories and other literary gems for adult listeners.  Expect the unexpected!

Youth Group Yoga - Sat, Apr. 18 at 1:00

Youth Group will get in touch with their inner pretzel at this yoga session by Katie Weststrate of Ahimsa Naturopathic.  

The library’s new youth group, for kids aged 10-14, meets Saturdays in April at 1:00.  Come do fun stuff and hang out with friends!

Need a little help developing your green thumb?  
Members of the MaD (Merrickville and District) Gardeners will be at the Library to share local gardening tips, answer questions, and help with your gardening dilemmas. 

"Books with Babies" continues in April

Books with Babies (Tuesdays to Apr. 21, 10:30 am):  
Parents with their babies (birth to 12 months) are invited to a fun, interactive story time program that also provides parent education on language development and the importance of reading with your child(ren) from birth.  
This is a free program presented by an Early Literacy Specialist from the Ontario Early Years Centre.

Library Hours - Easter weekend

The Library will be Closed on Good Friday (Apr. 3) and Easter Monday (Apr. 6).
