TD Summer Reading Club starts July 2!

TD Summer Reading Club Is Here!:  
Calling all kids to the TD Summer Reading Club for school-aged kids (sponsored by the TD Financial Group)!  This summer’s Club is all about “Play” – and what could be more fun than that?!  

Join and get a ticket for our summer prize draws for each book you read!  The TD Summer Reading Club can be done as an independent reading program - or join our group for Thursday afternoon activities. 

We have 2 groups meeting on Thurs. afternoons (starting July 2):  

• K - Gr 3 kids from 2:00 to 3:00, 
• and then Gr 4 & up from 3:00 until 4:00(ish).  

Activities will include: a Brenda Carter Memorial Art Workshop for Kids, a drumming workshop with Jordan Rannells (Creative Sound Productions), science fun, playing mini-golf and other games, making stuff to play with (puppets, superhero costumes & more), and our older group will perform a play.

Parents:  Summer reading programs have been shown to prevent “brain drain” by keeping up literacy skills over the summer - they encourage kids to read for pleasure and develop the reading habit.

TD Summer Reading Club Activities (starts July 2):  
Come for our Thursday Reading Club Activities!  
We have 2 groups:

French Club (starts Wed, July 8, 6:30 pm): 
French Club for kids is back in July.  Play games and do fun activities (games, LEGO, crafts, whatever) while speaking French.  Kids can also check out French books as part of the Summer Reading Club.  (Note: children must be able to communicate in French).  

Pokemon-palooza  (Sat, July 11, 10:00-12:00):
Love Pokemon?  Bring your cards and come to the Library to show off your Pokémon card collection, battle and play games.  For ages 6 and up.

Youth Group (Sat, July 11 at 1:00 pm): 
Youth Group (for ages 10-14) will have some special activities this month.  On July 11, the group will be making jewelry!

Prize-Winning Fair Crafts! (Sat, July 25 at 10:30 am): 
Interested in winning a ribbon in the Merrickville Agricultural Fair?   Come and make something from the Fair’s list of arts & crafts to enter as an exhibit.  There are a variety of crafts for pre-schoolers to age 16.  Supplies provided.

LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10 - 12 noon):  
Building with LEGO is another great way to play, and our LEGO Club continues on Saturday mornings between 10 and noon.
 
StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish):  
StoryTime for ages 6 & under (and a parent/caregiver) continues through the summer!   It’s a fun way to prepare for starting school this fall.

This year’s TD Summer Reading Club is all about “Play”.   Club members can enter our Summer Prize Draws every time they read a book - and pick a reading reward when they bring back their books!   You can do the Summer Reading Club as an independent reading program OR also come to some of our great activities! 

Reading Club Activities - Thursdays (starts Jul 2)  

· 2:00 - 3:00 for Gr. K - 3

· 3:00 - 4:00(ish) for Gr. 4+

French Club – Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.  Play games en français.  Starts July 8.

Make Fair Crafts – Sat, July 25 at 10:30 am.  Make a craft to enter in the Merrickville Fair.

Thomas the Tank Engine Play Day - Sat, June 20

Calling all Thomas the Tank Engine fans!  
Come play with Thomas, Percy, James and other steamies at the Library on Sat, June 20 (runs from 10 am to 4 pm)!  

We’ll have trains, tracks, and everything you need for some great adventures – plus Thomas books, dvds, crafts and activity sheets to enjoy!  Bring your dad for fabulous Father’s Day fun.
