What's happening at the Library in May?!

The Library continues to offer a variety of programs for adults and kids in May.

Adult Programs:  Contact the library (or 613-269-3326) to register or for more info.

Armchair Travels: A Passage to India (Thurs., May 16, 2:00 pm):  India is a land of contrasts with many exotic and beautiful landscapes and landmarks.  Gill Melki has made several trips to explore India's charms on her own and guiding small groups.  Join her for a fascinating talk and slide show as she shares highlights from her travels.

Fitness & Health for Seniors (Tues. May 21, 2:00 pm):  Staying active is the secret to living longer and feeling better - but it's important to stay fit safely.  Join Andrea Struthers, a local seniors' fitness instructor, for an informative session on fitness and health options for seniors.

Wellness Talk: Eco-Health (Mon. May 27, 6:30 pm):  Our health is affected greatly not just by the foods we eat, but also by the things we are exposed to in the environment in which we live.  We can't avoid all of the environmental contaminants that surround us, but we can make small changes which help to minimize our exposure over time. Come and learn what you can do in your daily life to decrease the 'toxic load' and maximize your own environmental health at this month's Health & Wellness Talk with Naturopathic Doctor Katie Weststrate.

Off the Shelf! (Wed., May 29, 7:00 pm):  Theatre Night in Merrickville's Off the Shelf is moving to a Wed. this month to welcome members of Council (including TNIMer's Timothy Molloy and Victor Suthren) as they share some favourite readings.  Our councillors were a surprise hit on their last visit.  Don't miss them this time!  Light refreshments available. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated.

And don’t forget the Friends of the Library
Bring & Buy Plant SaleSat., May 18, 9am -12pm
beside Hidden Treasures/Inch of Gold (across from the Royal Bank).

Get great plants at great prices while you help support the library!  A wide assortment of plants will be available.

This is a Bring & Buy event - the Friends gratefully accept donations of plants for the sale.  If you have plants you would like to donate, pick-up can be arranged. Thank you to everyone who has donated plants in the past.  For more information, contact the Library.

Coming in June: The seminar on Wills & Power of Attorney with Leonard Max (from Max Law) has been rescheduled for June 20.  Mark your calendars!

Children's Programs:

LEGO Club:  LEGO Club continues on Saturdays at 1:00 pm in May.  Come for a brick-filled hour of building fun for ages 5 - 12.

StoryTime:  Join us Fridays at 10(ish) for stories, songs & rhymes and a craft.  The 1st Friday of the month is extra toddler-friendly.  New StoryTimers are always welcome.

Returning in June:  Juice Jam and our French StoryTime "Il etait une fois…" will be back in early June!  Contact the library for times.
