Adult Events:
"10
Trees that Can Save the World" (Wed, Oct.
16, 7:00 pm): Internationally
renowned scientist, environmentalist and author Diana Beresford-Kroeger will
read "Chasing Cures", the
story of her harrowing efforts to locate a rare tree - from her new book The Sweetness of the Simple Life.
This book is just coming out in Oct. and copies will be available for
signing. Diana will also talk about her
current film "10 Trees that Can Save
the World" and share some amusing behind-the-scenes stories. If you'd like to learn more about this

Genealogy Workshop (Sat, Oct. 19, 10:00
am): This
2-hour workshop, led by Gloria Beek, will combine an introduction to online
genealogy searching for newcomers with a more advanced exploration of available
online genealogy resources. Includes
resource handouts.
Off
the Shelf! (Mon, Oct. 21, 7:00 pm): Don't miss our popular "Readings for Adults" program by members
of Theatre Night in Merrickville. This
month we'll "brush up our Shakespeare" with readings from and about
Shakespeare - including a seasonal visit from Macbeth's witches!
Wellness Talk: Straight
Talk about Gluten (Tues, Oct. 22, 1:00 pm): "Gluten Free" has become a common label
in grocery stores and restaurants. But, what is gluten and why do we care
if it's in our food? If a food is gluten free, is
it healthier? Join Dr. Katie Weststrate, ND, to discuss the differences
between the various forms of gluten sensitivity and allergy and to break apart
common misconceptions about 'gluten free' foods.

Come for a French StoryTime for ages 8 & under including fun Fall stories,
rhymes & a craft, with Alexandra Mathewson.
Halloween
Howl (Sat, Oct. 26, 10:30 am): The library puts the “BOO” into “Books” with a
Halloween music & story program featuring stories, music, rhythm
instruments, lots of audience participation, and a snack! (Not-so) Spooky fun for ages 10 &
under. Costumes are optional, but don't
forget your Halloween spirit!
LEGO Club (Saturdays,
10 - 12 noon): Our drop-in LEGO Club for ages 4-12 continues on
Saturdays - but is cancelled on Oct. 26 (for our Halloween Howl).
StoryTime (Fridays, 10(ish)): Join us for seasonal stories, songs, rhymes & a simple craft. New StoryTimers are always welcome.
