What's Happening in January?
Wellness Talk: Acupuncture (Mon. Jan. 13, 6:00 pm):
Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used healing therapies in the world. Naturopathic doctor Katie Weststrate will talk about how Acupuncture works (Eastern and Western application), and the wide variety of health concerns for which there is research or empirical evidence of therapeutic effect: musculoskeletal pain, allergies, depression, headaches, blood pressure, arthritis,insomnia, addiction, obesity, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and more.Author Reading - Kevin Morris (Sat. Join area author Kevin Morris for a reading from his new novel "In Times Wanting". This is the story of Berrin and Eileen, who "after surviving near execution and emotional breakdown in Mexico, meet up in Ottawa after a decade long separation, both in search of a new beginning.Morris drew his inspiration from his international development experiences in Mexico, his work in Artist-Run-Centres across Canada, and his Irish roots in rural Canada. He has worked for Youth Centres Canada over the past decade (formerly TYPS, working out of Merrickville).

The Leeds & Grenville Read to Every Kid campaign runs to Jan. 17. Read the 10 selected picture books (available at the library) to your child, and then vote for his/her favourite. Then join us for...Family Literacy Day StoryTime (Sat, Jan. 25, 10:30 am):

Stories, songs and a simple craft for toddlers and preschoolers every Friday morning at 10(ish). Our theme for January is Wonderful Winter!
