What's Happening in January!

The Library has a variety of activities coming up in January - for kids and for adults!   We hope to see you there!

For Adults:

Off the Shelf (Mon, Jan. 18, 7:00 pm):
Off the Shelf is an always-entertaining evening of readings and refreshments for adult listeners (check out photos from our December event on our Facebook page).  This month, Off the Shelf will be featuring the Wit and Wordplay of Will Jenkins.

Movie Club (Thurs, Jan. 21, 2:00 pm):
Come to the library for an afternoon movie (for adults).  Contact the Library for movie details.

How to Say No (without feeling guilty)
(Mon evenings at 6:30 pm, Jan 25-Feb 8):
Saying no is a tough job.  How do you do this in a way that's kind, without being egotistical or self-centred - and without beating yourself up?

Join Shulamit Ber Levtov, MA, RSW for 3 free, interactive evening workshops that will teach you 4 key principles for saying No. You will have opportunities to experiment with these principles and receive coaching for implementing them in everyday life.
The workshops run Jan 25th, Feb 1, and 8 from 6:30-8:00 pm.  You are welcome to brown-bag your dinner.  For more information about Shulamit, see www.shula.ca .

For Kids:

AfterSchool Help - Speeches (Wednesdays, after school):

Writing a speech for school?  Come to the Library on Wednesdays after school for help researching your topic, editing your speech, and improving your public speaking skills.

Brenda Carter Memorial Art Workshop for Kids
(Sat, Jan. 16, 1:30 pm):
Join us for another art workship in memory of Brenda Carter.  Local artist Gloria Stowell will be leading kids in a painting workshop to create a winter scene.  For kids age 8+.  Registration required. [Snow date: Jan. 23]

Family Literacy Day StoryTime (Sat, Jan, 30, 10:30 pm):
Join us for a special StoryTime to celebrate Family Literacy Day and to announce the winning book in this year's "Read to Every Kid" Contest.
Come for stories, craft, and a snack!

StoryTime (Fridays, 10(ish):
This month we'll be enjoying Wonderful Winter stories, songs, and crafts.  Fun for preschoolers & toddlers (and a caregiver).

LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10-12 drop-in):
Drop in Saturday mornings for brick-building fun!

Youth Group (selected Saturdays at 1:00 pm):
